Your Blog Your Control
webmaster | 20 February, 2009 15:43
We strive to give the most blog control to our members. These are your blog pages and we'd like you to be as creative as you can be within the bounds professionalism.
Many mortgage people are very new to blogging. They've tried website with no luck. The difference between a website and a blog is that the content of other bloggers supports your exposure. Someone might be looking at the mortgage interest rate observer (California) and notice that they have a mortgage contact on this site in Illinois. Not only that but one bloggers content boosts the ranking of everyones content. Thats how search engines work.
In one of my earlier blogs I wrote that over 1 billion people were now on the internet. Imagine someone coming to you and asking if you would like to advertise in the yellow pages for free and 1 billion people get the book. Your in the mortgage section of the worlds yellowpages. The difference here is you don't have to pay and you control the type of ad that you place every week.
If you write professionally and attractively, borrowers will share your information and if they live in your region they will call you. You can't remain a secret forever.

Are You Online Yet? Are You In Business?
webmaster | 03 February, 2009 08:44
80% of real estate professionals aren't online yet. You have to wonder if they are even in business? Many of these "pros" have no plan of attack to get online or expand their exposure to the internet. If you were a customer would you work with these folks? If you can't talk tech marketing (at least a little) can you truly help your clients fully?
The first thing you must ask yourself is: Is the Internet important to the mortgage or real estate business? Most people would scream YES.
If not today, sometime in the future your personal business WILL be impacted by the internet if it hasn't already. This "New Media" continues to gain critical mass. Are you getting positioned?
Whether it's a customer looking for your business information; name, address, phone, or looking to 'qualify' your knowledge, they will look online if they haven't already. You must present yourself online as the expert they need to work with.
If someone was giving you a free Yellow Page listing wouldn't you take it? Why not go 100 steps further and create your own webpage blog at www.realestateloans.com and start being the expert in your local market.

Over One Billion Online
webmaster | 27 January, 2009 06:42
Comscore has announced that there are currently over One BILLION internet user accessing the web. That is over 15% of the worlds population with about 20% of the activity coming from the United States. Another interesting fact is a report stating that only ten percent of China's citizens are currently online.
One billion Earthlings online, five billion to go.
For most of us these numbers are staggering. There is great opportunity for commercial success if we could only tap into some of that growth. How will we ever get a piece of the pie?
Pick a niche like mortgages and blog blog blog. For most of us a standalone website is a waste of resources. How can one or two people build the content required to make a dent in a world flooded with internet content. The resources and cost of maintaining a single website by an individual is prohibitive. For this reason, an online community where members pool their content around a specific topic is the most efficient way to grow your online exposure.
Communities built specifically around a single topic are the way of the future/present/future. You know mortgages, we know technology. Stick to what you know and write like mad about it and we'll take care of the technology. If mortgages or real estate is your vocation, then make your online promotion and blog your avocation. Both will support each other and you in the future.

Remember, our industry has gotten a bad wrap these last two years- try and blog professionally and explain your product and services clearly. Don't just put your name and company information on your blog because that doesn't develop any trust and won't do much for your search engine ranking.
Think Wikipedia quality.
Also, don't cut and paste someone elses articles because that will slow or retard your search engine ranking.

Industry Specific Online Communities Rock!!
webmaster | 27 November, 2008 16:47
If you have a website you may be asking yourself if its worth all the money you're spend to maintain it. We see it first hand... I've experienced it for years. My clients would complain that they were pouring money into the sight but for very little return. After a few years of going with the flow, I decided to specialize on blogging and blogger support. Online communites are an outstanding way to expand your reach on a shoe string.
At www.realestateloans.com you can upload a template and customize your personal blog to make it a very effective website. Let us know if you need assistance. This community is dedicated to the mortgage industry.
